Bosnian Serbs with which he is charged, a representative of the Hague war crimes tribunal's prosecution said in her closing argument in the trial of the commander of defence forces in Srebrenica in 1992/93.
Prosecutor Patricia Sellers said the prosecution had proven that Oric had 'de facto' and 'de jure' control over members of the Army of Bosnia-Herzegovina who committed crimes against Serbs in villages near the eastern Bosnian town in late 1992 and early in 1993, and that as commander he failed to take measures to prevent or punish those crimes.
Oric is charged with four counts of violation of the laws or customs of war committed through the wanton destruction of 12 Serb villages, cruel treatment of prisoners, and the killing of at least six Serbs who died after being subjected to torture in the police station in Srebrenica.
