Platter was on an official visit during which he met his Bosnian counterpart Nikola Radovanovic, with whom he signed a memorandum on cooperation between the two ministries.
In a statement to the press Platter said that stabilisation of the situation and the strengthening of peace in southeast Europe was a priority for his country, an integral part of such efforts being the EUFOR mission Althea in Bosnia.
Around 6,700 soldiers from a number of countries are keeping peace in Bosnia-Herzegovina.
Platter said that the number of EUFOR troops would be reduced to some 6,000 by the end of the year, and that the reduction of the EUFOR would continue to bring the number of troops to 2,500.
