Croatian parliament head, visiting Serbian president meet

ZAGREB, Nov 24 (Hina) - Croatia wants to have a good cooperation with its neighbours, including Serbia, as sharing the same values with neighbours is a prerequisite for the prosperity, stability and security of Croatia, Parliament Speaker Luka Bebic said after talks with the visiting Serbian President Boris Tadic in Zagreb on Wednesday.

Bebic said that the consequences of the war in the first half of the 1990s could not be forgotten, but "we also do not want to live in the past".

"We would like to turn a new page," said the Croatian parliament's head.

In response to reporters' questions, Bebic said that he and Tadic discussed the position of the Croat minority in Serbia and that he had reminded Tadic that the Croat minority still had no representative in the Serbian parliament.

In attendance at the Bebic-Tadic talks was Vesna Pusic, head of the National Committee monitoring Croatia's European Union accession negotiations. Pusic delivered to Tadic documentation concerning the policy chapter on Judiciary and Fundamental Rights within Croatia's EU entry talks. The documentation is a summary of what Croatia has done so far in this negotiating area, according to the office of the Parliament Speaker.
