During the second quarter of 2010, Croatia's external debt increased by EUR 600 million.
The total external debt in July rose by EUR 158 million from June due to the issuance of central government bonds in the amount of USD 1.25 billion and additional debts incurred by public companies.
However, all of this was alleviated by a reduction of debts of commercial banks of some EUR 820 million.
The central government did not make any major transactions increasing the foreign debt, but the debt went up as a result of inter-currency changes, the central bank's analysts said.
