BRUSSELS, Feb 13 (Hina) - Croatia will have to replace some of the oldtechnical standards dating from the former Yugoslavia as part ofpreparations for full membership of the European Union concerning thechapter on free movement of goods, Croatian negotiator TamaraObradovic Mazal said in Brussels on Monday.
BRUSSELS, Feb 13 (Hina) - Croatia will have to replace some of the old technical standards dating from the former Yugoslavia as part of preparations for full membership of the European Union concerning the chapter on free movement of goods, Croatian negotiator Tamara Obradovic Mazal said in Brussels on Monday.

The EU acquis communautaire does not provide for the imposition of quantitative restrictions or quotas and so-called "measures with equal effect", some sort of covert restrictions on free flow of goods on the single EU market, she said.

Obradovic Mazal said that Croatia had adopted about 12,000 European standards to date.

The screening for the chapter on free movement of goods is due to finish on Friday, after which the European Commission will prepare a report and send it to the EU Council.
