The first leg is scheduled for 1530 hrs and the second for 1800 hrs Thursday.
The award fund is a record high 165,000 euros, the second highest being the award fund at Austria's Kitzbuehel, worth 140,000 euros. The winner of the "Snow Queen Trophy" race on Mount Sljeme will get 60,000 euros.
The slalom, which is the second race to be held on Sljeme within the FIS World Cup, is expected to attract between 20,000 and 25,000 spectators. The event will be secured by 800 police officers and other security guards. Police officials have called on Croatian fans to support Croatian skiing stars Janica Kostelic, Nika Fleiss and Ana Jelusic, as well as other skiers, in a fair manner. During the race, there will be special traffic regulations on roads leading to Sljeme.
On Wednesday evening, the main square of the Croatian capital was turned into the biggest dance podium in Europe with a concert featuring disco music stars including Nile Rodgers & Chic, Chicfest, Village People, Thelma Houston, Anita Ward and Rose Royce.
