Croatian Interior Minister Ivica Kirin said after the conference this was proof od how much Southeast European countries appreciated Croatia's contribution to the establishment of higher security standards and the fight against all forms of international crime.
Kirin said Croatia had met a large share of demands set before it in the European Union accession process and was ready to be invited to open negotiations on the chapter Justice, Freedom and Security.
Croatia has also significantly contributed to the fight against organised crime, illegal migration, trafficking in humans and other forms of crime in Southeast Europe, and has incited regional cooperation in the suppression of cross-border crime, the strengthening of security capacities and the establishment of the rule of law, the Croatian Interior Ministry said in a statement.
In a declaration at the Bucharest conference, the Southeast Europe interior ministers underlined their commitment to the strengthening of regional cooperation with a view to transforming the region into one of stability, security and progress, with a clear European prospect for all the countries in the region.
