ZAGREB, July 4 (Hina) - Croatian police director Marijan Benko and French ambassador Francois Saint Paul on Wednesday exchanged joint declarations regulating the residence and work of two French police officers in the southern Croatian resort of Dubrovnik during the tourist season.

Addressing a ceremony at the Police Directorate in Zagreb, Benko said that this was a continuation of the project, launched last year, of cooperation with police services in countries from which tourists come in large numbers to spend their holidays in Croatia.

The two French police officers will be stationed in Dubrovnik from July 15 to August 15. They will be wearing official French police uniforms and will be at the service of their fellow countrymen. They will be working with their Croatian colleagues, but will not be carrying firearms.

This summer, Croatian police will also be cooperating with their colleagues from Hungary and Austria, and similar declarations on cooperation with the police services in Slovakia, the Czech Republic and the German state of Bavaria are under preparation, Benko said.

The French ambassador expressed his satisfaction with the exchange of two declarations, saying that every year about half a million French tourists spend their holidays in Croatia.
