SPLIT, April 27 (Hina) - Israeli Vice-Premier Shimon Peres on Friday ended his two-day visit to Croatia by giving a talk in the southern seaport of Split, meeting Split University students, members of the academic community, and local political and religious leaders.

In his speech "Globalisation in the Service of Peace in the Middle East", the Nobel prize winner for peace spoke about globalisation and Israel's experience in the creation of a modern state.

His message to the students was to believe in themselves, saying that if Israel, a little bigger than Croatia, could have made such headway, then Croatian citizens must believe in themselves and in youth, giving them the right to decide and find a job.

Peres visited Split at the invitation of Science, Education and Sports Minister Dragan Primorac, who said the messages Peres had given during his visit gave hope and faith in a better future for Croatia.

In Zagreb yesterday, the Israeli official met President Stjepan Mesic, Prime Minister Ivo Sanader and Mayor Milan Bandic.
