The prosecution of the Hague war crimes tribunal based the indictment against Croatian generals Ante Gotovina, Ivan Cermak and Mladen Markac on some of the statements in the recording.
The statements are considered to constitute evidence of a "criminal enterprise", namely the expulsion of the Serb population from Croatia.
Among other things, the prosecution quotes the late Croatian President Franjo Tudjman only up to the part of his statement where he says that Serbs must disappear, although it is clear from the rest of his statement - and this can be heard in the continuation of the audio recording - that he refers to Serb paramilitary forces, not the civilian population.
The excerpts of the audio recording of the Brijuni meeting, held four days before Operation Storm, include statements by President Tudjman, generals Gotovina and Markac, Admiral Davor Domazet, and the then Defence Minister Gojko Susak.
