The meeting, organised by the Croatian Mine Action Centre, was being attended by some 170 representatives of government institutions, non-governmental organisations, international institutions, firms specialised in mine removal, and manufacturers of demining machines and equipment from 35 countries.
Croatian mine clearance firms have 54 demining machines whose total value is about EUR 23 million and average daily capacity 285,300 square metres. In Croatia, work performed by one demining machine and three mine removal experts is equal to that done by 62 mine removal experts, the symposium heard.
