Recalling that he had made a similar proposal when he was European integration minister in the previous government, Jakovcic said the proposal by the Central Bureau of Statistics to divide Croatia into an Adriatic, Pannonian and Central statistical region was undoubtedly in the interest of Istria's residents and unquestionable with regard to the Adriatic.
Commenting on the turmoil within the Social Democrats (SDP), the strongest opposition party, Jakovcic said this was normal when there was an unexpected situation. He added the SDP was a strong party of strong and competent people that would make a good decision when electing a new party leader and candidate for prime minister at elections later this year.
This state of flux will certainly affect relations with the IDS, but the IDS will run in the next parliamentary elections independently, however, the SDP remains an interesting partner, said Jakovcic.
