ZAGREB, April 17 (Hina) - Croatia and Turkey support each other in
further stages of the process of accession to the European Union, and stress
the need for equal accession requirements for all countries aspiring to join
the bloc, the Croatian Parliament said in a statement on Tuesday following a
meeting between Croatian Parliament Vice-President Mato Arlovic and his Turkish
counterpart Sadik Yakut. Arlovic said during the talks in Zagreb
that Croatia believed that the EU enlargement process should be independent of
European constitutional changes.
Yakut said his country would continue to support Croatia in its efforts
to join NATO, expressing his confidence that Croatia would be admitted to the
military alliance in 2008.
The Vice-President of the Turkish Grand National Assembly also met for
talks with the head of the Croatian-Turkish Friendship Group in the Croatian
Parliament, Mario Zubovic.
