Decision on additional probe into Sellotape war crimes case to be issued on Tuesday

OSIJEK, April 6 (Hina) - The Osijek County Court on Friday discussed yesterday's request by the county prosecutor's office for an additional investigation into the so-called Sellotape war crimes case and the Court will make the decision public on Tuesday, said Court spokesman Miroslav Rozac.

Investigating judge Mario Kovac, who led the investigating hearings in the case, yesterday turned down the county prosecution's request so the decision on it will be made by the County Court, said Rozac.

In its second request for an additional investigation, the county prosecutor's office asked for the questioning of one new witness and four whom it had suggested but Kovac rejected.

Seventeen witnesses were heard during the first additional investigation, of whom 13 called by the prosecution and four by the defence. Judge Kovac has heard 147 witnesses since the investigation was launched six months ago.

Seven persons are accused in the Sellotape case, including independent member of parliament Branimir Glavas. They are charged with killing 10 persons in the eastern city of Osijek in 1991 and with the attempted murder of Radomir Ratkovic, who now lives in Serbia.
