Croatian president decorates German humanitarian activist

ZAGREB, March 20 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday presented German humanitarian activist Brigitte Bremer with a high state decoration, "The Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the image of Katarina Zrinska", for her outstanding contribution to the organisation and transport of humanitarian aid to Croatia during the 1991-1999 war, the President's Office said in a statement.
ZAGREB, March 20 (Hina) - Croatian President Stjepan Mesic on Tuesday presented German humanitarian activist Brigitte Bremer with a high state decoration, "The Order of the Croatian Morning Star with the image of Katarina Zrinska", for her outstanding contribution to the organisation and transport of humanitarian aid to Croatia during the 1991-1999 war, the President's Office said in a statement.

"The value of the humanitarian assistance Ms Bremer provided for more than a decade particularly lies in the fact that it came when it was most needed and was given to those who needed it the most," Mesic said.

Bremer organised humanitarian aid for the town hospital in Sisak and the children's hospital in Zagreb, and after the war she assisted in the construction of a children's day care centre in Sunja.
