SARAJEVO, March 15 (Hina) - The Croatian government has forwarded
to the authorities in Bosnia-Herzegovina an acceptable proposal for the
building of a bridge connecting the southern Adriatic peninsula of Peljesac
with the mainland, but the signing of a memorandum regulating this issue is not
likely to take place in the near future because of work of the Bosnian Council
of Minister is blocked, Bosnian Transport and Communications Minister Bozo
Ljubic said. Dnevni Avaz daily cited Ljubicic on Thursday as saying
that Croatia on Tuesday forwarded to Sarajevo a draft memorandum on the
Peljesac bridge
The proposal is similar to the one sent to Zagreb by that former
Bosnian Minister Branko Dokic, Ljubic said.
Ljubic said that Croatia's proposal states that Bosnia would have exit
to the open sea owing to the hight of the bridge of at least 55 metres and
width between pillars of 200 metres. The bridge itself will be 2.3 kilometres
long.
The two sides agree that all environmental protection criteria in
affect in Croatia be applied in Bosnian territory. This means that special
mechanism measuring sea pollution would be set up in the territorial waters of
both countries.
