ZAGREB, March 6 (Hina) - Japanese Ambassador Tetsuhisa Shirakawa on Tuesday signed three agreements worth a total of 154,254 euro for projects in Benkovac, Draz and Virovitica.

Benkovac will use 73,121 euros to purchase a new drinking water tank for communities without a public water supply system.

With 57,145 euros, the health care centre in Virovitica will purchase medical equipment for the outpatient clinic in Vocin, which had been demolished during the 1991-1995 war and rebuilt last year.

The primary school in Draz in the eastern Baranja region will spend 23,988 euros for the purchase of furniture, equipment and books for the school library and computer training centre.

Since 1998, the Japanese government has donated about a million US dollars and 1.4 million euros for development projects in formerly war-affected areas of Croatia.

"In the past nine years we have carried out 60 projects in different areas of Croatia and I am happy that we can add three new projects," Shirawaka said at a signing ceremony in the Japanese Embassy in Zagreb.
