ZAGREB, Feb 6 (Hina) - Croatia in Paris on Tuesday signed the UN International Convention for the Protection of all Persons from Enforced Disappearance, which is an additional mechanism for the protection of human rights and freedoms,
as well as a new step in the promotion of the international humanitarian law and support to international efforts invested in fighting terrorism, the Croatian Government said in a statement.
ZAGREB, Feb 6 (Hina) - Croatia in Paris on Tuesday signed the UN
International Convention for the Protection of all Persons from Enforced
Disappearance, which is an additional mechanism for the protection of human
rights and freedoms, as well as a new step in the promotion of the
international humanitarian law and support to international efforts invested in
fighting terrorism, the Croatian Government said in a statement.On
behalf of the Croatian Government, the convention was signed by a Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister for the Family and War Veterans Affairs and International
Solidarity, Jadranka Kosor.
Croatia advocates the adoption of the Convention, the statement said,
and supports the position that the method of forced disappearances cannot be
justified by any circumstances.
The Convention was adopted by the UN Human Rights Council at its
session in Geneva in June 2006.
