"This year, May Day is being celebrated in an atmosphere of general economic recession and even a crisis. Global liberal capitalism, with its cult of unlimited accumulation of wealth, has been a fiasco, but it has pushed into crisis millions of people who are not responsible for it. This is a warning that we should change the entire philosophy of social development, and that we should primarily distribute social wealth and social obligations in a fair manner," Mesic said in his message, which was issued on Wednesday.
Social justice is an ethical imperative of contemporary Croatian society if it wants to be a just society, Mesic said among other things.
