"The US Embassy is pleased to announce that effective today, April 23, visa officers are now authorised to issue tourist and business visas with a validity of up to ten years," the embassy in the Croatian capital said in a press release.
Until now the embassy in Zagreb could only issue visas for a maximum of five years.
"The ten year visa validity is the maximum allowable by the Department of State," reads the press release.
"This measure reflects the excellent bilateral relations between Croatia and the United States," the embassy said.
It also "welcomes this positive development that will ease travel and promote greater exchange between our countries".
