LONDON/ZAGREB, May 15 (Hina) - Croatian Finance Minister Ivan
Suker on Friday held talks with the President of the European Bank for
Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Thomas Mirow, on cooperation between
Croatia and the EBRD and on two loans which EBRD will grant for financing the
expansion of the Gruz port within a project for modernising the seaport of
Dubrovnik and for financing the expansion of the seaport of Sibenik, the
Croatian Finance Ministry said in a statement. Minister Suker, who
arrived in London for the 18th annual assembly of EBRD governors, on Friday met
EBRD President Mirow for talks on the future of that international financial
institution and its business orientation in times of global crisis.
Suker praised EBRD for its active participation in financing the
private business sector in Croatia through credit lines intended for small and
medium-sized entrepreneurship with assistance of the Croatian Bank for
Reconstruction and Development.
The Croatian minister and the EBRD director also talked about
preparations for the 19th EBRD annual assembly which will be held next year in
Zagreb.
Earlier on Friday, EBRD and Croatia's leading food maker Agrokor signed
an agreement on EUR 50 million loan for Konzum, Agrokor's retailer, with the
purpose to help the company strengthen its capital base and create modern
stores throughout Bosnia-Herzegovina.
