During their closed-door meeting, participants agreed that in the previous 12 months, prosecutors of countries in the region had successfully cooperated in exchange of data and in legal assistance regarding war crimes cases.
They also discussed support to witnesses and protection of fundamental human rights in war crimes proceedings.
"It has been agreed that the support to witnesses is a precondition for successful trials in cases when victims and witnesses are outside the countries in which the proceedings are conducted," the DORH said.
Testifying via video links has proved to be useful, the conference heard.
In attendance were also the chief prosecutor of the Hague-based International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, Serge Brammertz, US Ambassador at Large for War Crimes Issues Clint Williamson, an International Association of Prosecutors representative, Elizabeth Howe, Dutch Ambassador to Croatia Catharina Maria Trooster, and some other guests.
