The Belgrade-based Press paper quoted Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic as saying that Sanader's resignation was personal and Croatia's internal matter, adding that after his withdrawal, Serbia's policy towards Croatia would not change.
The same paper quoted the head of the parliamentary foreign affairs committee, Dragoljub Micunovic, as saying that he hoped that the future Croatian government and Prime Minister would continue cooperating with Serbia and its authorities.
Commenting on possible reasons for Sanader's withdrawal, the media said he absolutely ruled out illness as a reason for his withdrawal, adding that the resigning PM also ruled out his come-back for the coming presidential elections.
