Croatian diplomat visits healthcare centre in Afghanistan

ZAGREB, June 2 (Hina) - Ivan Velimir Starcevic, deputy head of the civilian segment of the Provincial Reconstruction Team for Fayzabad, Afghanistan, on Tuesday visited a healthcare centre in the village of Layoba the construction of which was financed by Croatia with USD 236,000, the Croatian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Wednesday.

The construction of the healthcare facility was completed last December..

The facility has two doctors and two nurses, and treats daily between 60 and 100 patients.

The first Croatian civilian team joined (PRT) led by Germany in this northeastern area of Afghanistan in January 2005.

Local representatives thanked the Croatian government for the construction of the centre.
