KARLOVAC, April 29 (Hina) - A trial against four former Croatian Serb
rebels -- Miroslav Bijelic, Sava Padezanin, Djuro Tepsic and Rade
Bjelos -- for the murder of civilian Josip Obranovic began before the
Karlovac County Court on Thursday. The defendants are being tried in
absentia as they are beyond the reach of Croatian authorities.
They are charged with having shot dead Obranvoic as he tried to flee the area under the control of Serb rebels on 15 May 1992.
Their commander Rade Peles, who stood trial at the Karlovac court for the same war crime, already served his ten-year prison term.
