ZAGREB, Dec 30 (Hina) - Former chairman of the managing board of the
Hrvatska Postanska Banka (Croatian Postal Bank or HPB), Josip Protega,
who is under investigation for having granted general loans according
to political criteria, said on Wednesday that he had not fled the
country and that he had talked on the telephone with Croatia's
national anti-corruption agency (USKOK) in the morning and denied
allegations that he had approved suspicious credits.
