"The tragedy unfolding in Sudan is unimaginable - horrific violence and mass displacement are causing malnutrition that is destroying the future of entire generations of children. Sudanese children are paying the highest price for the catastrophic situation that has turned Sudan into the world's worst humanitarian crisis," UNICEF Croatia says.
The organisation stresses that war, disease and hunger threaten the lives of millions of children, prompting its urgent humanitarian appeal to save children's lives in Sudan.
Limited access to healthcare and poor sanitary conditions are leading to outbreaks of diseases such as cholera, measles, dengue fever and malaria, further endangering Sudanese children.
Last year, UNICEF, together with its partners, provided clean drinking water to more than 9.8 million children and families, screened 6.7 million children for malnutrition and delivered life-saving treatment to 422,000.
UNICEF is the main supplier of therapeutic food for children suffering from the deadliest forms of malnutrition. Its mobile teams, stationed at the front lines of crisis zones in Sudan, are delivering therapeutic food and medical aid to prevent a total collapse of life-saving health services.
However, the organisation warns that the needs remain vast.
"Every donation matters when it comes to saving children's lives," UNICEF Croatia says, calling on the public to contribute to the effort to help Sudan's starving and displaced children.
