On his way to the bronze, the young Croatian wrestler, who competes in the 130kg category, defeated Pijus Baldysius of Lithuania 10-2, after which he was defeated by Cemal Yusuf Bakir of Turkey 0-3.
Bakir's entry to the finals gave Milanović the opportunity to capture the bronze through a repechage. On his way to the medal he first defeated Rafail Gkirnis of Greece 9-0, after which he beat Armenian Aramayis Harutyunyan 9-4 in the match for the bronze.
The gold medal was captured by Saba Chilashvili of Georgia.
Milanović is the younger son of Croatian President Zoran Milanović.
