The memorial to the nun whose bravery is widely recognised was unveiled as part of the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the arrival and activities of the Sisters of Charity in Livno, since they left a great mark in their work with young people and the local community.
The exceptional courage of Sister Bogoljuba Jazvo was discovered by Marko Danon, a Zagreb businessman of Jewish origin, who was given access to many documents from the Belgrade and Zagreb archives.
The US ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Michael Murphy, said that the work of Bogoljuba Jazvo was also recognised in the USA.
As a sign of gratitude, a monument named "Zdenac života" (Well of Life) was erected in the centre of Livno. The author of the monument is Ante Braovac, an artist from Tomislavgrad.
