Documentary on most famous Croatian water polo coach premiered

ZAGREB, 26 Feb (Hina) - A documentary about the world-famous water polo coach Ratko Rudić was presented at a news conference at  the Kaptol Boutique Cinema in Zagreb on Monday.

The documentary about this former water polo player and retired coach, who has won dozens of medals at international contests and who is considered one of the most successful water polo coaches, is authored by director Dejan Aćimović.

As a player, Rudić played for the Yugoslav national team 297 times, grabbing nine medals.

During his 39-year-long career as a coach, he has won 39 medals, including 16 golds.

Rudić is the second most successful team sport coach of all time, after Brazilian volleyball coach Bernardo Rocha de Rezende, who has 52 medals as a coach.

Rudić officially became an honouree of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, located on the Atlantic Ocean beachfront in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 2007, when he was the coach of Croatia's national water polo team.

The project of making the documentary about Rudić lasted nearly six years, and 125 persons were interviewed during the project, said Aćimović.
