This is higher than the European average of 74%, which confirms the great role and importance of the number 112 in Croatia, the head of the Osijek regional civil protection office, Zvonko Grgec, said on Thursday, after the flag with the 112 logo was hoisted in Osijek's central Ante Starčević Square, marking the beginning of European 112 Day in Croatia.
Grgec reported that last year the Osijek 112 Centre recorded about 75,000 calls from citizens, and according to the emergency services, the Centre made another 45,000 calls, which is a total of about 4,000 hours of conversation. There were about 35,000 events, mostly medical, security and firefighting events, as well as complex events where two or more emergency services intervened, he explained.
He recalled that last year there were many extraordinary events in Osijek-Baranja County: floods, bad weather, a big fire at the Drava International company and the African Swine Fever outbreak, but that the emergency services responded in a quality and coordinated manner.
Osijek-Baranja County Prefect Mato Lukić that the survey had shown that Croatian citizens had great confidence in the number 112 and the civil protection system.
