Terme Tuhelj launches biggest yet investment cycle, worth €27 mn

ZAGREB, 21 Jan (Hina) - The Terme Tuhelj thermal spa is launching the biggest investment cycle so far, worth €27 million, the company said this past week.

The investment cycle includes the expansion, renovation and upgrading of indoor pools and saunas, the construction of a new restaurant with a green roof, a new square, promenade, fountain and reception desk in the swimming area for external visitors, as well as the construction of a new accommodation facility with 46 rooms, connected with the rest of the accommodation units by a heated corridor.

The contract for the new investment cycle, signed by Terme Tuhelj's owner, Terme Olimia of Slovenia, and the construction company MDK Građevinar, is the biggest individual contract in the history of Terme Olimia and Terme Tuhelj.

The project also envisages further business digitalisation and greening, including the introduction of renewable energy sources, which is expected to result in energy efficiency, better management of resources, and a better market position for Terme Tuhelj.

Of the total value of the investment, €6.6 million will be secured from the Recovery and Resilience Facility.

Terme Olimia has owned Terme Tuhelj for the past 20 years, during which €30 million has been invested in its reconstruction and expansion as well as in the improvement of its services and employee training, Terme Olimia director Florian Vasle said.

The new investment cycle started in mid-2023 with the construction of a roofed parking area with an own solar power plant and a wood biomass boiler room, an investment worth €4.5 million.

In 2023 Terme Tuhelj had close to 67,000 visitors, a record high number, and they generated more than 165,500 overnight stays, an increase of 5% on 2022. The company's revenue grew by 19% to €14 million.
