Young Ukrainians thank KBC Split hospital

ZAGREB, 22 June (Hina) - Ukrainian children who came to Split, fleeing the war in their country, thanked the doctors and medical staff of Split's KBC hospital for taking care of their health and before returning to their homeland, they gave them a television as a gift.

Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, about 150 young Ukrainians, members of Shakhtar Football Club, some of their coaches and parents have stayed in Split. A large part of them has already returned to Ukraine, and the last groups are returning at the end of this month. Before leaving, they are using the time to thank all those who have helped them, so they also visited the KBC Split hospital, whose doctors took care of their health during their stay in Split, the hospital said.

There were cases of various children's illnesses, minor fractures, but also major operations. Our children were always taken care of, and your doctors and the entire staff were happy to be at our disposal. You have done a lot for their health and safety. For that, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts, said Anastasiya Saltavets of FC Shakhtar.

The children, who were glad that they were in Croatia and were be able to train and make new friends in Split, also expressed their thanks.

The director of the hospital, Julije Meštrović, said that Ukraine had the strong support of the Croatian people, not only politicians, but also ordinary people who understand their situation very well.

We are glad if our help eased the time you had to spend outside your beautiful homeland. KBC Split will always be at your disposal. I hope that your suffering will end soon and that you will be able to grow and live in peace in your country, said Meštrović.

The young Ukrainians said they hoped that, even though the situation in Ukraine was still uncertain, they would return to Croatia in the future as tourists, or even better, as friends.
