Manual for teaching, mastering Croatian language launched

ZAGREB, 23 May (Hina) - A teaching manual with theatre games and texts for mastering and teaching Croatian as another language was launched at the Croatian Heritage Foundation on Tuesday on the occasion of 30 years of the Foundation's Little School of Croatian Language and Culture.

The book also contains 40 plays created in the Little School for Croatian education abroad, preparatory Croatian language education in Croatia, and regular Croatian language education.

Drama teacher Grozdana Lajić Horvat said the manual was a result of playing with pupils in the Little School. "All the texts are a result of our play and cooperation with pupils," she added.

The Little School of Croatian Language and Culture, which began in 1993, is intended for children aged nine to 16 who live and attend school outside Croatia.

Its programme includes a ten-day stay in a seaside children's resort where they try, with the help of teachers, to master the Croatian language and culture through language, creative, sports and entertainment activities.

The manual was authored by dramaturge Livija Kroflin, drama teachers Lajić Horvat, Sara Milavec and Diana Čosić, and the Little School's founder, editor Lada Kanajet Šimić.
