ZAGREB, 26 April (Hina) - The Apostolic Administrator of the Vicariate of Aleppo in Syria, Raimondo Girgis, has thanked Caritas Croatia for financial donations raised in Croatia after a devastating earthquake struck Syria and Turkey in February, Caritas said.
Girgis said in a letter that the $200,000 received has been distributed among Aleppo, Lattakia and Idleb. He recalled that many families had lost everything and watched their loved ones die in the disaster.
Girgis said that the earthquake had caused a slight improvement in other countries' relations with Syria, expressing hope that this was a sign of future negotiations that would lead to an improvement of people's living conditions.
