ZAGREB, 6 Feb (Hina) - An agreement was signed at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb on Monday regulating a bilateral initiative between the Republic of Croatia and the Kingdom of Norway for the exchange of knowledge and experience and the improvement of Norwegian studies at the Faculty.

The ceremony was attended by Regional Development and European Union Funds Minister Šime Erlić, Norwegian Ambassador to Croatia Haakon Blankenborg and the dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Domagoj Tončinić.

They agreed that the initiative was an excellent basis for additionally strengthening the bilateral relations between Croatia and Norway and strengthening linguistic and cultural understanding.

The initiative will be implemented in cooperation with the Faculty of Humanities and Education - Centre for Norwegian Studies Abroad at the University of Agder.

The project, worth €98,670, is completely financed by the Bilateral Fund, and it will be implemented from January 2023 to August 2024.

The Fund is intended to finance initiatives and projects for strengthening bilateral relations between Croatia and donor countries: Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.

Funding of €2,768,000 can be used until April 2025, and it was established under the European Economic Area Financial Framework and the Norwegian Financial Mechanism.

During the three semesters of the project, a Norwegian professor will be teaching Norwegian language and culture at the Scandinavian Section of the Department of English. At the same time, the Norwegian professor will be able to take Croatian language lessons at the Croaticum - Centre for Croatian as a Second and Foreign Language.
