Thus, a month before the introduction of the euro as legal tender citizens will be able to buy euro coin starter kits, which they will be able to use only as of the beginning of 2023.
Citizens will be able to buy a maximum of two euro coin starter kits in one transaction.
A euro coin starter kit contains 33 coins - three €2 coins; three €1 coins, five €0.50 coins, five €0.20 coins, five €0.10 coins, three €0.05 coins, four €0.02 coins and five €0.01 coins.
The coins will be possible to use for payments in the country and abroad only as of 1 January 2023 because euro and cent coins that have Croatian national symbols on the reverse side will become legal tender in Croatia and the rest of the euro area on that day.
Coin kit for business users €145.50
As of today business entities, too, will be able to buy euro coin starter kits.
A euro coin starter kit for businesses contains 525 coins of all denominations, worth €145.50, for which they will pay HRK 1,096.27.
Most banks request businesses to order the kits in advance by using bank applications for the ordering of ready euro money in the frontloading process.
The minting of Croatian euro coins started in mid-July in a mint in Sveta Nedelja outside Zagreb, and by the end of this year around 420 million euro coins are expected to be minted.
Croatian National Bank Governor Boris Vujčić said last week that by that time 347 million coins had been made or 83% of the total amount of coins. By Christmas 420 million coins will have been minted, Vujčić said at a session of the National Council for Euro Introduction on 23 November.
