70 years of Tourism magazine marked in Zagreb

ZAGREB, 27 Sept (Hina) - The Zagreb-based Institute for Tourism and the Croatian National Tourist Board (HTZ) on Tuesday held a scientific conference to mark 70 years of the publication of "Tourism",  an international interdisciplinary journal.

The conference entitled "Tourism between science and practice" brought together in Zagreb about a hundred participants from the tourism sector on the occasion of World Tourism Day, which is celebrated on 27 September. This year's global theme of this day is "Rethinking Tourism."

After the pandemic years and the consequent drop in tourism around the world, this topic is extremely relevant, especially with regard to sustainable development, which is becoming imperative not only for tourist industry but also for society and the economy as a whole, it was said at the conference.

HTZ Director Kristjan Staničić underscored that HTZ has been a co-publisher of this scientific journal for years, and will continue to do so.

The managing director of the institute, Damir Krešić, said that it is "the second oldest such magazine in Europe and in the world" and that it is important both for the work of the institute and its international cooperation and for Croatian tourism.

The editor-in-chief, Josip Mikulić, said that the journal has an international character and is published in English four times a year. It covers all relevant topics and trends in tourism and other related sectors. It is distributed electronically.
