Rijeka University Rector Snježana Prijić Samaržija said at the opening ceremony that she believed relations between Rijeka University and similar institutions in Korea would be additionally strengthened.
Cooperation between Rijeka University and universities in Korea started back in 2008, and a teakwondo academy was established in 2016as part of Rijeka University.
Rijeka Mayor Marko Filipović said that this was yet another proof of the openness of Rijeka and its university.
The cooperation will enable the exchange of the best practices and experience, with Rijeka University being among the best in Croatia in terms of innovation and international exchanges, he said.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Sung-Wook Hong, and the President of Sungshin Women's University, Seong Keun Yi, expressed satisfaction with the opening of the institute.
King Sejong Institute is a leading brand of institutes for learning and teaching the Korean language abroad. It was established in 2007 and since June 2022 it has opened 244 offices in 84 countries across the world, with more than 81,000 students.
