Running camp to be organised in Zagreb for people with disabilities

ZAGREB, 25 Aug (Hina) - The START running camp will be held on 3 and 4 September at Jarun Lake in Zagreb, and about 20 people with lower limb amputations will participate.

On the first day,  they will try out prosthetic limbs under the supervision of orthopaedic technicians and exercise in the hall with an expert assistant, and on the second day (4 September) they will have the opportunity to apply the skills they learn on the first day.

"There are over 600,000 people with disabilities in Croatia, and an extremely small percentage of them play sports recreationally, far less than in Western countries. Through this event, we want to show people with disabilities that with the use of adequate aids their capabilities are significantly greater than they think,'' four-time Paralympian Ana Sršen said at the presentation of the programme of the event on Thursday.

She added that people usually think positively after playing sports, and through sports, they socialise with others.

The event's organisers want to motivate people with disabilities, as well as people without physical difficulties, to be more active and take care of their health in a concrete way.
