Hina, ANSA sign cooperation agreement

ZAGREB, 8 April (Hina) - The national news agencies of Croatia and Italy, Hina and ANSA, on Friday signed a new cooperation agreement, regulating the exchange of news and other products after a period of discontinuity, and announced joint projects.

The agreement will enrich the two agencies' information services with new products, expand cooperation to include video production, technological exchange, joint participation in tenders for EU projects, and the promotion of Croatia-Italy trade, said Hina director Branka Gabriela Vojvodić and ANSA's Stefano De Alessandri.

Joint projects will provide communication support to Croatian companies and institutions in Italy and Italian ones in Croatia.

Italian Ambassador Pierfrancesco Sacco, who hosted the meeting of Hina's and ANSA's delegations, welcomed the expansion of the cooperation between the two agencies, saying it contributes to the strengthening of Croatia-Italy cooperation bilaterally and multilaterally, as testified by this week's meeting in Zagreb between the foreign ministers of Croatia, Italy, and Slovenia.

Sacco underlined the strong increase in Croatia-Italy trade last year as well as the increased interest of Croatian companies to invest in Croatia.

Cooperation and exchange of content is a tradition between national news agencies which are not competitors.

Particularly nurtured is the cooperation between the members of their associations such as the European Alliance of News Agencies and the Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies, of which Hina and ANSA are members.

The two agencies also cooperate on EU Newsroom, the project of a joint newsroom of the European agencies in Brussels, as members of the steering board.
