Digital Nomad Valley project presented in Zadar

ZAGREB, 27 Nov (Hina) - A project for the first Digital Nomad Valley in Croatia, devised by Mario Mrkša and Vedran Presečan as part of their Work Remotely Croatia (WRC) initiative, was presented in the coastal city of Zadar on Friday.

Mrkša is also the executive director of the start-up company grabAhome.

The first Digital Nomad Valley was opened in Zadar and in the first few weeks it received more than 300 applications from around the world.

Digital nomads come from different parts of the world, they learn about the local culture and financially they are more profitable than seasonal tourists, it was said at the presentation.

Until this autumn, the private sector did not adequately recognise the potential of the digital nomad community even though it has been discussed a lot in public lately. The young entrepreneurial team from Croatia has nonetheless recognised the market potential and growing trend of remote working, with Croatia being one of the top ten destinations among digital nomads.

European Parliament member Karlo Ressler of the HDZ party welcomed the initiative, noting that Croatia had all the preconditions to be an excellent destination for digital nomads.

Zadar Mayor Branko Dukić, too, supported the initiative, calling for open cooperation in developing it.

There are more than 35 million digital nomads in the world and their economic value is estimated at $US 780 billion annually.
