A total of 27 awards were presented, including one for life achievement, which went to Miroslav Dragičević, an internationally renowned tourism worker, manager and consultant.
The awards were presented by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, who congratulated Dragičević and the other award recipients as well as everyone else in the tourism sector who contributed to this year's tourism results, which, he said, were beyond expectations despite the coronavirus pandemic.
"We are at around 75% of the tourism results in the record season 2019... the synergy between the government and the tourism sector has been great and I believe these results will encourage further recovery. Already this year we project a 9% economic growth," he said.
At the award-giving ceremony, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service (HGSS) and the Ministry of the Interior Civil Protection Directorate received a special recognition for their exceptional contribution to the 2021 season.
