Spanish magazine recommends Croatian baby names to parents

ZAGREB, 28 Sept (Hina) - ¡Hola! magazine, one of the most widely read weeklies in Spain specialising in celebrity news, recommends to parents to give their newborn children Slavic names, including Croatian ones.

"The Slavic languages include Russian, Croatian, Bulgarian and Czech, among others. Although you may think they are impossible to pronounce, that is not so. Their names are beautiful and combine pretty well with our language," the magazine says in its latest online edition, in an article headlined "40 beautiful and original baby names of Slavic origin".

Among the names used in Croatia, the Spanish magazine recommends the following: Boris, Goran, Mirko, Danica, Darinka, Milka, Miroslava, Tihana and Zora. The meaning of each name is also given.

According to the Spanish statistical office INE, the most popular names for boys in Spain this year are Hugo, Martín, Lucas and Mateo and the most frequent girl names are Lucía, Sofía, Martina and María.

Among the popular Slavic names given to newborns in Spain are Igor and Tania.
