Krka National Park and Trokut Šibenik incubator cooperate in digital nomad project

ZAGREB, 20 May (Hina) - The Krka National Park and the new Trokut technological incubator in the central Dalmatian city of Šibenik have signed a cooperation agreement to develop a programme to accept digital nomads in the park so they can work and use its facilities under the same conditions as local residents, it was said on Thursday.

Noting that this is the first protected area in Croatia willing to accept digital nomads, who will be able to work in the most attractive locations in the national park, the park's management said that more and more digital nomads are becoming temporary residents in Šibenik-Knin County, and Croatia is particularly attractive to them because of its regulation on digital nomads.

"Krka National Park provides digital nomads with the necessary technical infrastructure and fast and secure wi-fi access in the Movement Centre in Laškovici, the Krka Eco Campus in Puljane, at Stinica, opposite Visovac islet, at the Roški Slap waterfall, as well as other programmes that they implement," the management said.

On the other hand, the Trokut incubator offers working space, a kitchen, a bathroom, printers, scanners, a basketball court, and other amenities and services.

Krka National Park Director Nella Slavica said that the cooperation with Trokut will contribute to applying and developing new technology not just in the park but in Šibenik and in the county as well as providing better visibility of the location and its population.

She said that the programme has received support from Šibenik city authorities, adding that this is a natural step in trying to promote the county as an ideal destination for digital nomads all year round.

Croatia has regulated the status of digital nomads for citizens of third countries, and offers them a one-year residence visa as of 1 January 2021. They can apply for a second visa six months after the expiry of their first visa.
