Special lanes have been marked at the border crossings at Bregana, Macelj, Rupe and Plovanija in order to facilitate entry into the country and prevent congestion.
The entercroatia.mup.hr web site was launched at the end of May with the aim of increasing efficiency at border crossings and informing tourists of the relevant epidemiological measures in Croatia.
The web site also has an online form for prospective visitors who can fill it out before going on trip to Croatia. The form/announcement is valid if the passenger concerned presents the passport or identity document (for EU citizens) he or she specified in the form when crossing the border
More than a million tourists entered the country this week after registering with the app with 1,159,971 online forms being completed by Friday, the Interior Ministry informed.
The ministry informs prospective travellers on its web site that "after entering your contact information (telephone number and e-mail address), you will receive an announcement certificate which we kindly ask that you display on the windshield of your vehicle in order to facilitate the border crossing. Furthermore, you will receive all of the necessary information regarding your safe stay in the Republic of Croatia."
"The announcement certificate does not constitute an entry permit and is not equivalent to a document required for crossing the border (passport/identity card)," the ministry underscores.
