Croatia reports 18 new COVID-19 cases

ZAGREB, June 21 (Hina) - Eighteen new cases of the coronavirus infection have been detected in Croatia in the last 24 hours, one fewer than on Saturday, the national COVID-19 response team said.

"So far a total of 2,317 people have been infected with the virus. The number of active cases stands at 71. In the last 24 hours 18 new cases have been confirmed, one fewer than on Saturday," Health Minister Vili Beros told a news conference.

Ten of the new cases were reported in Zagreb, five in Osijek County, and one each in Zagreb, Split and Dubrovnik counties.

Beros also said that none of the patients were in critical condition, with nine receiving treatment in hospitals. None of the patients are on ventilators and a total of 276 people have been tested in the last 24 hours.

The minister said that since the last upsurge in the number of new cases there had been 55 new infections, including 20 that were "imports", while 35 were their contacts.

For nine patients it could not be established where they had contracted the disease.

Beros said the national coronavirus management team was aware that social and business activities had to go on and that it would continue following the epidemiological situation and adopting the necessary measures to keep the public health situation stable and satisfactory.
