An at informal video conference, EU science ministers were discussing measures against the health crisis that can be implemented right away and ways of dealing with the crisis in terms of research and investment in the months ahead.
European Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Commissioner Mariya Gabriel was also taking part in the conference, chaired by Divjak as the minister of the country currently presiding over the Council of the EU.
Ahead of the meeting, Divjak said investing in science should be done also when there was no crisis in order to prepare for it.
She warned about fake news and pseudoscience in the fight against the novel coronavirus. "Science is the one contributing to a solution, and everyone spreading fake news and all pseudoscientists actually contribute to chaos and to not solving the problem."
