More than HRK 17 mn donated to help those affected by earthquake, coronavirus

ZAGREB, April 6 (Hina) - In the period from March 24 to April 3, more than 17 million kuna (approx. €2.236 million) was donated to help alleviate the consequences of the March 22 earthquake in Zagreb and the coronavirus pandemic, and payments were also made in various foreign currencies, the government said on Monday.

"The Government of the Republic of Croatia thanks all donors for their donations, which will be used to help remove the consequences of the strongest earthquake that hit Zagreb and its surroundings in the last 140 years and in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic," the government said in a statement.

The government opened accounts for donations at a conference call on March 24.

The donations for the "Together for Zagreb" campaign amount to HRK 7,376,594.29, EUR 21,932.42, CHF 3,367.52, SEK 500 and GBP 50.

The donations made for the "Croatia against coronavirus" campaign amount to HRK 10,450,303.65, EUR 386,663.92, CHF 4,911.52 and GBP 50.

Donations for the repair of the damage caused by the earthquake can be paid into state budget account no: HR1210010051863000160 by donors from Croatia and into the Finance Ministry's account with the Croatian National Bank, IBAN HR12 1001 0051 8630 0016 0, by donors from abroad.
