Concert held in Brussels for start of Croatia's EU presidency

ZAGREB, Jan 16 (Hina) - Croatian artists gave a concert at the Bozar Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels on Wednesday to mark the start of Croatia's presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The concert was held on the anniversary of Croatia's international recognition and the peaceful reintegration of its Danube River Region.

Croatian Culture Minister Nina Obuljen Korzinek said this concert, which featured works by European composers from the Baroque period, was the first in a series of cultural events to be organised across the EU over the next six months of Croatia's EU presidency.

Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic Radman said three exhibitions by Croatian artists were opened in Brussels today.

The concert was attended by the Croatian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff General Mirko Sundov and Croatia's military representative to NATO and the EU, Rear Admiral Predrag Stipanovic.

Earlier in the day and on Tuesday, they attended a NATO Military Committee meeting in Brussels at which member states' military chiefs-of-staff discussed NATO's defence and deterrence capabilities as well as its operations, missions and activities.
